Default Gas Filler Lid Fix

Got the parts in this week. 2 or 3 new rubber bumpers and a new spring as per the TSB. I decided to do the repair myself instead of waiting waiting 3 hours at the service dept for the rocket scientist in the back to install the replacement parts. Took about 5 minutes and so far the filler lid pops open everytime. Will see if it holds up over the next few weeks.

The bumpers did not seem taller than those from the factory ,but they did seem to be stiffer. The replacement spring seemed to be stiffer as well. If you have this problem then print out the instructional TSB, order the parts and do it youself. Especially if you do not want to kill half your afternoon at the stealership.

I am hoping the new spring and bumpers will their "springy" qualites over time as they are compressed and wind up beign a short term fix.

Cool, I didn't know they would just give you the parts like that to do it yourself. I wonder if I could get the seat clicking parts too. I was just going to do the custom mod for the seat I found in a thread. No way I want them ever touching my car unless I can't do it myself.

Yeah just order them through the parts dept. They will be glad to take your money. I understand people wanting to use the warranty to the full extent so to each his own, but i guess ive had enough of bad dealership service that i have a similar attitude as you. If i can do it myself within reason then i will. Actually the seat mod is next for me as well. Good luck.

Great! I have taken my Z in for this issue several times and every time it came down to the same outcome - works a few times and then stops.

Could you specifiy the TSB# and parts needed for this fix? Thank you for your time and finding all of this out!

Try the link below. Covers 03-05 350z's Just pick your year then scroll down through the various TSBs until you find the one that matches. The fuel filler door TSB happened to have the parts listed and instructions on how replace the factory parts.
