Transmission Grinding
OK I need some help; I have a 2003 MT Tourning with 32K, I bought her in Oct of 2002. I just started getting some grinding when going into 3rd and sometimes into 5th gear. When I went to the dealer the service manger told me that the clutch was the problem, it needs to be replaced. That they have been replacing the clutches at about 32k to 35k. Am I wrong but when your clutch goes out won't the engine start reving as the clutch starts slipping? I feel that the transmission needs to be replaced, not the clutch.
my '03 6MT touring is grinding when going into 3rd gear now, just started... I have noticed lately shifts seem less smooth. I only have 23.4k miles and if they tell me my clutch is worn out I am gonna tell them to stop the BS because it doesn't slip. That is all synchro related. If it was the clutch, it would also grind in EVERY shift, EVERY gear... because that would mean it isn't being fully dis-engaged, not that it is worn down. I am waiting for the service manager at the dealer to call me back right now... wonder what he will say, they like to give you the run-around and make you call 1-800 Nissan NA and delay the process about 2-3 weeks, then have you show up at 7am on a day where you are supposed to be at work... I am gonna start charging them by the hour for work I miss.
