Default 2003 Touring w/ 6MT feathering

I've read many posts on the feathering issue with our cars, and I too have seen this on my car. The car was purchased new on 7/28/2003 at Victory Nissan in Richmond, VA. Funny thing is I'm over 36,000 miles, and the front tires outlasted the rears. These are the stock tires (Bridgestones). Since this is my first true sports car (unless you count the 1988 MR2 I had), I did misjudge the costs associated with owning this car. I've had "sporty" cars - 3 Mustangs (1988 GT, 1988 5.0 LX, 2001 GT), and I thought maintenance expenses would be similar. Believe me, I enjoy the car and the attention that has come with it, but you should not have it as your only means of transportation. I was driving to work daily, and before I knew it 30,000 miles was on the clock. Six hundred bucks for the 30K service - if you follow the maintenance to the letter. It's no wonder I can go for days and not see one in my travels. I'm due for new tires now, and I want custom wheels. My choice is the Kinesis K18R and K19R wheel in the natural gray finish (18x9 F, 19x11 R). Car color: Silverstone. Tires: 255/40/18 F, 195/35/19 R. She's sitting in the backyard now becuase I don't want to get the tires until I buy the wheels. After this, I'm only using it for the weekends when the weather's good. Any advice on tires or other mods?

Everyone will have a different opinion, but here is mine:

Dont get 2 different sizes rims on fron and rear. Go with a 19x8.5 front and a 19x9.5 rear tire sizes should be 245-35-19 and 275-35-19 rear. If you want something more aggressive, I would go 19x9.5 front and 19x10.5 rear. My prefernce is the smaller size because Ima wuss when it comes to taking chances with my car. BEN

I did consider the size differences, but after doing some calculations, the overall diameter is the same on both ends. Currently I have the 225/45/18 and 245/45/18 stock combo. I'm being picky here, but I have noticed the slightly taller sidewall on the rear tires. By going with the combo in my previous post (that should be 295/35/19 R), I can maintain the same overall diameter and have the same sidewall heights on both ends. It could be my glasses, but the stock rear wheel/tire combo does not fill up the wells enough for me. This should address that.

Yeah, you will definately fill up your wheel well, so much in fact with the 295/35/19 that you will rub your fender raw. Max I have seen people run on that tire would be a 285 but even then some peopme are having to shave or roll their fenders. I would go with what all the venders are reccomending which is the diminsions I gave you, then get some springs for 140-200$. They will lower your car anywhere between .4" to 1 inch. I reccomend nothing more that .75" to be safe. BEN
