I just started having this problem at almost exactly 8k. Thanks for the info. Now the dealer can't give me the usual runaround.

This TSB lists the applied vehicles as all '03 models and specific '04 models as well. Most of the released TSBs are like this. Again, if I'm not mistaken, a TSB can even transcend models. For instance, the VQ is used in more than one Nissan model. If there was a TSB for engine part, I wouldn't be surprised to see it list several of these models for the Applied Vehicle field.

I started getting the clicking sound coming from my rear axles at about 9K. I took it to the dealer yesterday with the TSB and they replaced the outer axle joints and wheel bearings on both wheels. I was hoping that the clicking sound would go away but as soon as I drive away from dealer I started hearing the noise again.

Am I being impatient? Do the new bearings need time to settle in? Now I'm afraid the noise may be related to something else. Help guys.

Nah, it should be gone immediately. Perhaps you are hearing a different sound than the bearings? If not, take it back to the dealer and check. If the bearings are still clicking, they're still bad.

Ah, yes. I guess I should've clarified. I meant that a TSB is, to my knowledge, only applied to the vehicles listed. They can certainly list multiple vehicles, as you pointed out! But take the 2005 350Z, for example. It's not on that list, so it isn't covered by that TSB. Also, if a Maxima happens to have the same bearing problem, this TSB wouldn't cover it. They'd probably release a separate TSB for that, or update this TSB to add more vehicles to it. But either way, it's all semantics. The main point is that we get our stuff fixed! And even if there isn't a TSB, if you're vehicle is still under warranty then it'll still get fixed for free. (As long as they don't try to blame your mods.. doh!)

My 03 had minor clicking at 25K, annoying clacking at 33K, turnaround was 1.5 days, with a new 008 tranny, clutch pedal assembly, and the CV joints/axles.
Tech found both sides of the axle shafts "noisey" when braking.
Tech replaced & updated the CV Joints and bearings per bulletin.

Nissan ordered a S17 suspension, (2) Bearing Kit (2) Joint Assembly (2) Repair kits, as I only requested DS to be fixed to be fixed, good deal. Word

My 2005 touring Z just started having this problem @ the 8K mile marker.
Many of the 2003 and 2004 TSBs did apply on my 2005 Z.

Good deal. But even if there weren't TSBs for the problems, you'd still be covered since your car is still under warranty.

Either that, or it could be your hubs. I had to replace my passenger hub before the wheel feel off. Now, the driver's side is doing it too. Note the way the rear end "wiggles" under heavy accelleration without losing traction. Yep, you got a hub problem too. Get it fixed before your wheel falls off as well.

P.S. I track my car A LOT. So, know where my problem comes from...

I have a 2003 and the fix for clicking was simply to grease the axle splines and retorque the axle bolts. That was 10K. I now have 50k with no subsequent trouble. They never mentioned bearings as the source of the difficulty.

Well guys the clicking is gone I went to the dealer this morning and according to thepaper work, they re-positioned the stub axels and re-torqued them. the car actually feel a lot smoother. I was kinda pissed off that I had to pay for the fix, but it was only 1/2 hour labor (56.44) so I didn't ***** about it. I hope this help out a bit.

That is the same fix that I had for the problem, and the repair was covered under warrantee. The service rep knew exactly what the problem was and replaced the bolts also.

How many miles do you have , I think the drivetrain warranty is 3/36000 and I have about 40K on my car.

I had the work on my creaking rear end done at about 10K. I now have nearly 50K with no subsequent problems. I bought the extended warrantee and I would assume that this problem would be covered under that...maybe not.

Wait, I thought that if it was an official TSB then it should be fixed for free regardless of your warranty status. Or does that only apply to recalls?

That's what I thought, but he said just because it's a TSB doesn't mean that it's no charge. It depends on if the warranty is expired or not. At first I was like what the ****, it's not my fault that NISSAN didn't torque it down right.
