i think i've got it figured out. truthfully, this can be done with many cars. is it a design fault? is it easier to do this with the z than any other car? that's lawyer territory.

i'm sorry that happened to you. i guess the best thing anyone can do to prevent this is lock up your articles in the storage area.

i'll send an email to nna expressing my concerns.

good luck.

Question

MikesChromeZ, how did they brake into your's??
It seems from ZCarDriver, there was no damage and definitely no 4 hundred some odd dollars worth of bills.

I am starting to wonder if this is a NY thing.

Maybe the problem is where you live, not what you drive. I think that I am going to sue Pontiac because my 78' lemans came with door locks that have a larger 'head' on them. This design flaw made it really easy to draw the locks up (thus unlocking the car door) with a simple coat hanger. If they had just made the diameter of the lock the same (and not with a larger head), this car would not have been easy to break in to... yeah, that makes a whole bunch of sense to me..

Default I PAID $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The bill was some where in the ballpark of $900( actually just a $500 deductible). They did damage. Body, paint and broken parts.

ZCardriver,

If they damaged your car in the process, I don't see how the Z is any more vulnerable compared to other cars. When it comes down to it, anybody with a slimjim, screw driver or a crowbar can get into a car. At least the Zs have the immobilizer.

His big secret is... they wedge the door, windows go down a crack, unlock the door.... once unlocked the alarm is disabled!

It's my personal belief that alarms do nothing anyway, and if you're that paranoid, waste $200+ on a little siren if it buys you peace of mind.

Cars get broken into no matter what... as long as they don't steal the entire car, I'm not gonna sweat it. Buy a steering wheel club, depending on where you park, most theives don't want to cut a steering wheel. We also have an immobilizer for protection.

ZCarDriver.... was there any bags or anything visible in the car? I don't believe they'd break in for a stock stereo... were they trying to boost the car? Any damage to your steering column?

Unhappy In plain sight

Not a thing in plain sight. And they dont crack the door and crack the windows. Good guess though. Keep it up. I think once someone guesses it i will let them know privately.
