Smile Nissan extends tire/alignment warranty

Just got my letter today. Nissan is extending the tire/alignment issue for feathering warranty to 36 months and unlimited milage for all 2003 and 2004 350Z models.

They will also reimburse for tires replaced prior to the notice and give you a free alignment. Applys to aftermarket wheels but not modified suspension. You will need to return suspension to OEM condition to get the free warranty work from dealer. Tire refund not effected by mods however.

I read that letter but it was written in a way that makes me wary.

especially that table that shows customer pay responsibility.

tire tread depth of 4\32" and you dont pay squat.
tire tread depth of 2\32" and you arent covered and pay 100%

what a load of crap.

Got my letter Saturday. My local dealership has heard of this but hasn't been notified by Nissan yet. I emailed him a scanned copy of my letter. I told him to schedule an appointment for as soon as the new tires arrive. My tires are noisey as hell, but they also have 27K+ miles on them (since replacing the originals at 15K).

2/32" is AT the wear bar. 4/32" is pretty damn worn out.

The actual symptoms this thread (and the 15000 others just like it) refers to has been exhaustively discussed for the past couple of years. Search "tire feathering" and you'll find everything there is to know about the issue.

Default Dropped mine off today...

I took my 04 in to the dealership today for the tire noise issue and 6th gear grinding.

They did the alignment and have two tires on order.

They are giving me some hassle about the transmission first saying they could not duplicate it. I had to drive the mechanic and show him...he is trying to say it is just the linkage...we'll see. Can't see how a grind from 4th to 6th and 5th to 6th can be a linkage problem. Sounds more like a syncro issue to me...
