Ok, Im only at 28k right now, however I am curious what Nissan says is required to be done at 36k to maintain the warranty. The service guy didnt really say when I asked, however he said I should do this and that.....he just listed a bunch of stuff...most of which I know is BS.

screw that.. what i did was clean everything, check the belts, put it in a lift and make sure the nuts and bolts are tight on the suspension, check brakes, fluid. I also picked up some of those test strips for the brake fluid to see if you need to change it out, ofcourse change out all the fluids and i even go as far as cleaning the TB and intake air tube, check the filters and just all the standard stuff. there wasn't much stuff on the car that needed to be lubed up so its pretty much standard stuff.

30K miles maintainent: Replace air cleaner filter, Inspect EAVP vapor line, Inspect fuel line, Replace engine oil, Replace engine oil filter.

60K miles maintainent: Inspect drive belt, Replace air cleaner filter, Inspect EAVP vapor line, Inspect fuel line, Replace engine oil, Replace engine oil filter. Replace engine coolant.

the book says: Maintenace items and interval are recomended by NISSAN for reliable vehical operation. The owner need not perform such maintainent in order to maintain the emission warranty or manufacturer recall liability.

So, in short, one does not need to do those things unless they choose to and can still maintain warranty? What about the 60K drivetrain warranty?

Well, for my 30k service I had tranny & LCD.diff oil changed. Flushed coolant, replaced all belts, oil change, etc. I highly reccommend the dif & tranny fliuid/oil be replaced every 30k miles.

I really don't care about whether it maintains my warranty (especially since I know it does). I care about the life of the car.

If you're looking to take short cuts to save money now, plan on spending more in the future. That of course only if you're planning on keeping the car.

Nope, not looking to take shortcuts man. I put Mobil 1 Synthetic oil every 4k in her and always use 91 octane gas (highest available in AZ). I believe in maintaining cars. I just wanted to know what was required, if anything, to maintain the warranty thats all. Incase the tranny decides to quit within the 60k mark, I dont want Nissan to have any firepower to say that they wont fix it for some ****ed up reason.

Do the full service then. Mine cost $512.00. It's up to 200.00 more at other dealerships. I hate paying that but I will until my extended warranty is up then it's Jiffy Lube baby! I could have done everything there for about $200.00.

You're like me. That's the reason I don't use synthetic, because I'd still replace it every 3750 mile service.

So that $512 was at the deslership? Does it need to be done at the dealership? I hate how much they charge for the most basic of stuff. Hell, I could do the work myself.

Yes, the dealership. Like I said, you could take it to Jiffy Lube and save a few hundred bucks just make sure you have a detailing of everything they do and that everything on the maintenance schedule is performed.

The advantage of taking it to the dealership is that Nissan has all of your services in thier system. I get coupons & reminders from them all the time. The 30k service reminder came just a week before I had it done. I don't need to worry about keeping my records as much (but I do keep them) because NNA knows I'm servicing the car. Once it's out of warranty I'll probably take it else where.
