Hello,

I have an '03 Track. 48k miles on it. My 3rd gear grinds too, as many '03s have that issue. Unfortunately, there is no TSB on this: www.nissanhelp.com . However, I took it to a local Nissan dealership and with a little fuss, they agreed to warranty a full replacement for the trans. They're also giving me a brand spankin new clutch plate as well. Good news. Basically, it's up to the Nissan dealership that you go to, to decide whether or not they're going to replace it or not. Most likely they'll replace it though. Good luck!

Take it to the dealer and make them replace the whole tranny under warranty.

Hello,

Yes, it's really strange too. We sell alot of OEM Nissan parts. So, I did a little homework on this before I took it down to the dealership. Apparently, Nissan changed the part number of the 3rd gear bulk ring (syncro) and the whole entire 3rd gear 3 times! Now, per Nissan, there are no notes as to why these part numbers have been changed 3 times, so who's to say why? For the technically, left brained, engineer types, or for those that would like to know, here's the part numbers:

SYNCRO PART#: Production Dates:

32604-CD010 6/2-9/2
32620-CD011 9/2-9/4
32620-CD405 9/4-NEWER

3RD GEAR PART# Production Dates:

32260-CD004 6/2-2/3
32260-CD014 2/3-9/4
32260-CD404 9/4-NEWER

Again, per Nissan (and my wholesales rep is awesome, great guy, very honest) there are no notes that indicate why these part numbers changed over the years. It could be that a different vendor was making these parts, and hence, a new part number. Still, very fishy to me. I guess the good thing for me, and for many here that have gone through this, Nissan knows something that we don't and is replacing the whole trans, not just a gear or bulk ring. Hope this helps.
