Oddly enough, both of those things have happened to me.

I stopped using the rear washer a long time ago so there is no water left if in the tube going to the rear squirter. I had the dealer look at it a couple times but they could not reproduce the problem. As you observed, it only does it on HARD acceleration. There may have been a TSB on it in which the check valve in the water line was replaced.

I pushed my gas door button too hard thinking it was a mechanical release, not electrical. Fortunately, the switch just pops back in the clip that holds it. I've just learned to not push as hard...

There is a TSB on this problem for the 2003 (from www.nhtsa.gov):

Make : NISSAN Model : 350Z Year : 2003
Manufacturer : NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
Service Bulletin Num : 02098 Date of Bulletin: SEP 26, 2002
NHTSA Item Number: 10000136
Component: VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER

Nisaan will fix it for free.

Both have happened to me also.

You said Nissan fixes it for free? Not that I doubt you, but is there anything I can show them that says that?

Like I said, I brought mine in several times to the dealer and they couldn't reproduce the problem. After I though about it a little while, I realized that the only time mine does it is when I'm shifting from 1st to 2nd at about 6000+ rpms.

I decided I didn't want the mechanic driving it THAT hard.

I don't like using the washers (front or rear) anyway because of the water spots it tends to leave behind. I've been tempted to put a small valve in the line to permanently shut it off to the rear.

When the company posts a TSB, it is based on their willingness to admit there is a flaw, although not a safety issue that should be fixed. I've taken my car in for the Bose amp, CD skipping and rear axle clicking. I mentioned my problems, and all were fixed/replaced free of charge. When I got pushback on the CD skipping when it's cold outside issue (they couldn't replicate-duh it's warm outside), I said that I knew there was also a TSB and several member posts here. They ordered a new head unit for me. I would certainly get in there before your warranty runs out, because I don't think the dealership has to honor the TSB after that period expires.

I also had a Chrysler with a number of TSBs and it was the same deal. No charge.

Certainly pays to check the government website. I didn't know I had the clicking issue. Because my windows are almost always up I never heard it. When I looked at the nhtsa site, I listened to my rear axle with windows down and realized I had that problem too.
