Default scratched headlight

I just bought a set of headlights, hoping they were in good shape, but one of them is not. I was wondering if you can sand the lens cover to get rid of the scratches, or would I be better off trying to buy a new lens cover (if they even sell those). Also, the other light is somewhat yellowed....what could I use to make that one look better?

I brought my G to my bodyman, he polished them of with a refinishing kit.... no more haze, scratches , or pitting...

The kit goes for about 60$cnd and you can do approx 10 cars.... Well worth it!!!
Goodluck, and dont let the dealer tell you to buy newones!!!
Regards,
Lou

If its not illegal in your state... try yellowing them out... or blacking them out (tinting) looks sick if it matches the car

Its possible to remove a scratch in plastic, but just as time consuming and difficult as working with wood. In fact you use the same technique.

You would need to ensure that the lense is free from pits etc before doing so...

All you need is some Wet/Dry Sandpaper (3000k or 5000k I think) used for wet sanding fresh auto paint and some rubbing compound. Both can be bought at your local auto store for total of $6 at the most. Mix a drop of dish soap in bucket of water, dip sandpaper in soapy water and sand the plastic lense. The water and soap prevent the sandpaper to damage the plastic. If a deep gash is on the plastic you may not get it out, but it will work 100% on the hazing.

After a few passes with the sandpaper, dry and apply rubbing compound (has small abbreasives to further clean hazing & fine scratches). Let stand for 5 minutes and polish away! You will thank me later!
