Default New car smell?

I've only had my Z a few days and I know a new car will emit a variety of smells for a little while. The reason I am posting is I am getting a strong hydraulic fluid type smell inside the car and I was wondering if this is just the engine geting broken in or could this be something abnormal. If it is normal how long can it be expected to last. The smell really overpowers everything else inside the car.

That doesn't sound like a new car smell. Mine smelled a little "hot" in the beginning but went away quickly. HAve you seen any fluid after being parked..even small drops? You might want to check thoroughly under the hood and around the wheels. If the smell doesn't go away soon you better get it in to the dealer.

Yeah... that does not sound like a new car smell. You might want to get it checked. My Z smelled like LEATHER! So I had to keep the windows open while I parked in my garage for several nights. Then it went away. Phew... smell of leather is a bit too strong for me.

Chances are the smell is the metal protectants burning off as well as the catalytic converter getting broken in.

Of course, you could have the following:

I think it muast be the engine burning in because the smell is not as bad now. I drove the car some yesterday before the SNOW started again. It drives great and I am thrilled with the vehicle. The inside has a smell but I think it must be the leather and other new parts. I guess I'll have the engine smell for a little while.

It's normal. It's the engine.

It'll go away after a couple of weeks.
