Default Driver window...PLEASE HELP

I've searched old threads without much success...

The driver window sometimes doesn't do the little roll down when opening/closing the door. Sometimes it does do the little roll down, but it only rolls down like 1/8" and my passenger window goes at least 3/4" (works great.) I've tried doing the reset button under the door panel but I can't adjust the amount of roll down while opening/closing the door.

Please offer advice as this is a daily irritant

There is not much to say except get it fixed. Every now and then I smack the inside drivers door with my fist. That seems to make the window cooperate.

What year is your Z? I have an 03' and I had my regulator replaced twice. first one just died on me, and my window would not go down. Second, had the problem you are having. So they replaced it again. However, I don't see the windows going down much, but the important thing is that it does not hit the frame of the door. As long as it opens and closes without getting cought.

I have a '03. I had to replace the regulator because the window wouldn't open/close but now the window opens/closes every time. I'm sure there is a way to adjust the small amount the window opens/closes when opening the door... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, would it matter that the car is silver?

MySunset350Z - I don't know what to say about the little roll down when opening the door (I hope someone does), but I think you may need a new regulator for the passenger door. Let me know what you learn about fixing them as I'm curious.

Must be a problem with the 03's. I also had the regulator replaced already. It sucks becasue when it goes your door won't close and the car is pretty much useless. If it's an 03, I would get it in quick before the warranty is done.

Yes, silver is not a high performance color, hence the problem, try painting your car yellow, I'm sure that'll help.

There is a reset procedure that can remedy that problem. I believe there is a TSB on it.

Ha, I thought I was the only one! Mine sticks either up or down every once in a while and I have to give the door a smack to make it work again...

What's really funny is when you pull to a stop light or something and start smacking the door trying to get it to go down while the people sit next to you in traffic and watch you beat the hell out of it. I get some weird looks sometimes...

I know the feeling; One day the window is dead & the next all is fine.... I can't handle the emotional abuse :P

MySunset350Z - You have to take your car in ASAP, because you'll encounter a lot more problems between now and March...LOL When your window won't crack, does the window still roll down via the switch? When you find the root to this Nissan-mistake please let me know.

RobertH - that's cool!! "I" replaced my motor because the window quit opening and that fixed the problem, but now I have the new issue of the window not doing the small roll down when opening the door...

They had my door panal off four times to finnaly get the issue resolved. However, now the arm rest does not snap in properly. Not flush as it once was. Ticks me off everytime I think about it.

Cyp - Do you know what they did to correct the issue? Can you have them replace the arm rest?

Ricka, I went back some months ago to have them look at the arm rest. They said they would look at it. However, they just snapped it in to make it stay, but it's not flush. The tab that makes it stay is completely worn out. I hate to go back again because I don't have the time to leave my car all day again. I am going to at some point attempt to have them replace it before the warranty runs out. If not, just order one from a junk yard. I'm dissapointed with the dealers around my area.
