Default window streak fix anyone?

I have the infamous window streaks and I was wondering if anyone has found a dealer to have a solution for the problem. I went to Courtesy Nissan and they told me that there waas not a fix yet at this time and that the support needed to be replaced inside the door panel. Has anyone been able to fix the problem without replacing anything? Also, how easy is it to take off the door panel without messing it up or scratching it? Thanks for any info.

door panel seemed easy to replace, they removed mine in about 30 seconds for my tint. arm rest popped off, then a few screws and it was gone(weighs a good 10-15lbs per side too)

but once thats gone, theirs still metal plate over the goods, so you cant see much or get to it, not sure how hard it is to remove that peice. but without removing something you cant get to the roller, which they said was rubber and had grease on it to keep it from drying out. *shrug* seems like a stupid design, put a rubber roller caked in grease against the window. but whatever, Ill keep an eye out for a fix, if it doesnt come, Ill live.

I went to a Capitol Nissan over here. They took cared of the issue. Something about Nissan putting too much lube and it's splattering in the door panel. Check around for other service department around your area. The service department from the dealer that I originally bought my car (Broadway Nissan) wouldn't give me the time and day for anything. I had to drag my sales guy in to speak to them to fix my tire sensor warning light that wouldn't go away since I bought the car. Anyways, I have yet to hear from them regarding a Bose fix they order for me back in mid November. To make long story short, just look around for other service department, you will find one that is good. Highly recommend Capitol Nissan for any south bay owners.

I wonder if you put some sort of tape or something right on the window where the streak is and roll it up or down, think it will kinda wipe it off?

Default Window streak dealer response

I've had my Z for just over three months now...the streaks became most apparent after I had the windows tinted. My dealer (Rancho Motor, Victorville, CA) stated that Nissan assured them that the lube from the mechanicals had migrated, but should slowly dissipate over time. My dealer said to power the windows up and down as normal. I never roll them down except to pick up my takeout food. The climate control works flawlessly. BTW Tinting the windows was the second coolest thing I've done (buying the Z being the first) the small black cabin heated up like an oven and the car attracted so much attention I couldn't sing with my tunes without an audience . Please broadcast Nissan's solution to the smear problem when it becomes available. Chrome Silver Enthusiest AT Calif. lic "Warp 10"
