Default rattle from the center console

do you guys know of anything inside the center console that might rattle? it sounds more like buzzing. sounds like it is coming from the head unit, (alpine 9855) but i can't seem to get rid of it. i've tried wedging something between the headunit and the pocket underneath it, but that didn't do it. i thought it was maybe the gauges on top but thats not it either.

can you guys give me some idea on what maybe causing this?

thx.

i had a rattle/buzz coming from the instrument panel.....fixed under warranty last fall, make sure you request for a technician who is familiar with working on rattles.

this is limited warranty right? my car has over 50k miles already and i don't think i can get it under warranty. also, i got aftermarket headunit along with the dash kit. am i assed out?

i even put edead on the back of the headunit and some other metal parts behind the center console, but can't get it to stop. i've probably opened the center console like 10 times last week. this is pissing me off...

Ha ha... rattles rattles rattles. If its a buzzing I would look at 3 things. Your cupholder in the dash, the 2 circular black pieces near the window on the drivers side and passengers side. And finally check your rear view mirror. Oh and maybe your metal shifter finishing piece. If its not those, it's a new one.

I had a fine buzzing noise that seemed to be originating from somewhere middle of the dash when the car is in motion. Originally I thought it was coming from the rearview mirror but noise did not go away when I held the mirror with my hand. Turns out it was coming from silver circular ring around shifter. When I put pressure on it with my hand, the buzzing goes away!!!

Also try putting felt tape over the clips that hold the center console into the dash.

thx for the input guys.

yeah. this car came with ****load of rattles, and i took care of most of them.

i fixed the rearview mirror, doors, driver side dash, etc etc...

but this one i can't really figure it out. its either from the headunit area, or maybe near the gauges. im gonna open up the dash again today, and do something to the gauges and see if it stops.

hope this is not some new type of rattle that nobody else experienced...
