Default Does new Tranny = new warranty?

I'm wondering how the warranty works if you have a major item like the transmission or engine replaced. Say you have 20K miles on the car and they decide you need a new tranny. Do you get a new warranty on the new transmission or does it continue from how many miles are on the car. I can't seem to get a straight answer on this.

Yes. And the terms will be on the back of your work order. OEM items installed by Nissan have a 12,000 mile - 12 month warranty.

So they put a new transmission in the car and it only has a one year 12k mile warranty? That doesn't sound right.
