Rear Hatch Keeps Falling - Need Help
Is anyone (besides me) running a rear wing having problems with the hatch staying up? I'm running the NISMO rear wing and can't seem to keep the frickin hatch open for more than a few seconds. I've clowned byself a few too many times. I'll be adjusting my subwoofer box or even taking things in and out of the trunk area when all of a sudden "KADUNK" the rear hatch drops and slams me on top of the head. It's quite embarrassing and kinda difficult lifting things with one hand while holding the hatch up with the other hand. Anbody got a recommended solution to my delima, or am I stuck with the stock stay/arms? Getting a concusion and need help
If your hatch shocks are waisted from holding up the extra weight, then you may be forced to buy the "upgrade" shocks that are recomended when you install the rear deck spoiler. Mine ran me $340.00 installed at the dealer, but after about 2 weeks, the problem returned. If you haven't removed it yet, then you can take the "damper weight" out from the hatch. That (almost a year later), has solved the problem for me.
The only thing that will fix that is to get your shocks rebuilt to withstand the extra weight , I found this company in British Columbia , CA that will rebuild them for under $100.00

The damper is under the plastic piece where the rear winshild wiper is , I strated to take mine out but never did, tried to pop platic off on one side and had a hell of a time getting snapped back in so I stoped at that point. The wing is heavy the damper is about 7 or 8 pounds so by taking it out well you see what I mean good luck
I just had mine replaced at the dealership at no cost. I is on the TSB list. in addition to that they replaced the springs that pop the hatch open, fixed my grease streaks on my windows, and fixed the rattling noise in my rearview mirror. hatch works great now!

Have the same issue here- Per the install directions the Nismo spoiler requires a heavier duty set of dampers for the rear hatch due to the extra weight. Dealers aren't usually too eager to replace then under warranty however because of the aftermarket Nismo spoiler being not factory standard. If you can get them to great but chances are you will need to get a heavy duty set of dampers or get a long stick to hold the hatch open.
You can get a set of new dampers. They are $200 for the ones that are made for the afertmarket spoiler. Performace Nissan has them in stock. I went to ebay after about a month a set came up, I scored a new set for $40, solved my problem took 15 minutes to install. Happy hunting
