Default Car wont rev......

Hi, I took my car to the body shop a while back for some work to be done, and the car cranked and revved fine before I took it. Well, I get the car back, and it cranks fine, but wont rev for ****. It acts like it is trying to suck in air, but cant. The body shop sprayed water under the hood to clean it out, and it hasnt revved since..........any ideas what is wrong?

No ideas why, but try the ecu resetting on technosquares website, its hard to do but once you get the timing right it's pretty easy. It's not missing on any cylinder is it?

how high is it reving

last year i was drivin in some pretty heavy rain and i had to go through this stream/river, i had the nismo v2 at the time so my intake was submerged in water, the bybass valve worked thank god, my car ran fine for the next 100 ft or soo then it wouldnt rev past 2300rpm...so i took her home and let her sit in the garage overnight...i started her up the next morning and everything was back to normal

so they might of gotten something wet and it just needs to dry out?

well good luck

it wont rev past idle......as soon as I touch the gas it wants to die.....I can get a sputter or 2 past idle, but thats about it. It has been 2 weeks since it has been to the body shop, so im sure it is dry. I will try resetting the ecu....is there anything under the hood that will mess up if it gets wet?

Its not limp mode. You don't need to disconnect the battery for limp mode. If it were limp mode, you just need to turn the car off for a min and then start it back up. Also, limp mode will rev to ~2500 rpm. Sounds like they may have shorted out your MAF somehow.

Check your Mass Airflow Filter or MAF. If this got wet it can damage the unit. If the unit is damaged it will need replacement. For future reference whenever you steam clean your engine you should wrap the MAF with plastic bags and seal with masking tape.

Well, the MAF was out of the car when it went to the body shop. I have always been able to crank the car and rev it without the MAF installed, or plugged in. I tried running it both installed and removed the other day, both having the same results. Theres no telling what small something could have happened at the shop......

Well the best is to take it to a professional shop and get it diagnosed. Clearly you have a serious problem and it's not limp mode. Also check your throttle body.

Ok, update

Im just updating this so if somebody searches this topic the answer will be here. I had my MAF installed backwards. When I installed it the correct way this morning, it fired right up, and revved perfectly....boy do I feel dumb!
