is there any way to get the tire psi readings working after you have installed after market wheels and tires.

If you take the sensors out of your stock wheels and install them (same corners) on the aftermarket wheels, they will work fine.
Installing them on aftermarket wheels can be tricky depending on the location and orientation of the valve stem holes. If they won't fit in the hole, then you have to use the banding method to mount the sensors.
