Default 2006 Transmission Problems

Ok, I hear alot of 03-05 Trans problem. Now I wonder if 2006 will have the same issues. Post here if you have an 06 and have had your transmission replaced. Thanks.

I've only heard of a very small percentage of 04'-05' transmission problems, most of them have been 03'

Not sure where your getting your info...

your nissan dealership is full of it....shift slower my eye. Your nissan tranny should not make any loud clunking noise at all. May be a little notchy. i'd take it in. my 03(original tranny) don't make no noise.

What do you mean by notchy? I have been having trouble shifting 5->4 and 2->3 when revving hard. It's like the gear is not there for a quick second. This is the 7th car with a manual transmission I've owned, 2nd Z, but first to do this. Anyone else have this problem?
Took it to the dealer today for an oil change but they said they "couldn't do any warranty work on the weekend"

I have noticed on mine at times it doesn't want to go into gear smoothly. Ususally about 2nd or 3rd. A friend of mine has an 06 z roadster and I noticed the same thing when I drove his, usually when going into 3rd hard.

I drove my Integra for about 12 years and the shifting felt alot smoother. It's only been a month since I've had the Z so I'll keep practicing.

Sometimes it doesn't want to go into second for me . BUt this is the first few minutes after first driving it. After that seems like everythings warmed up and ready to go fine.

Still not like "budda" but it does seem to get better with time.

I had the CD006 transmissio in my 05, and 5th gear went at 16k miles. I now have the CD009 transmission, its far smoother, quieter and feels less notchy.

My '06 just started having a problem, every time I shift hard from 1st to 2nd it grinds like crazy then goes into gear...and yes I know how to drive stick. It's really starting to **** me off. I'm bringing it in Monday afternoon when I get a chance.

How often do you drive it? I use to not drive it as much daily and I had a hardtime getting into 2nd. I started driving it daily and it hasn't had any grinding or problems getting into second except for the harsh clunk.

Yeah sometimes its hard to put it in gear especially when downshifting and i hear that clunk noise too. I dont have grinding tho hopefully not ever. I also noticed that if u shift hard thats when its hard to put it in gear so what i do is try to shift without force and it works.

cocacola-sounds like you're having the same oil burning issue that I am. 3 quarts of oil in the first 2300 miles of ownership...
I'm also noticing a loud/heavy clunking when shifting into gear...it sounds like this is the first sign of a bad clutch/transmission.
Great, I'm having trouble getting Nissan to resolve the oil burning issue much less a transmission issue on top of it.
I think they need to do a dang recall on some of these cars. I've read on other forums of a number of '06 owners having transmission and oil burning problems....I think there are a large number of lemon '06 Z's....

I drive it A LOT. I've had it since February and already have 15,000 miles on it.

I have an '06 (CD-008) tranny from Jan/Feb this year. It is still loud, but it doesn't bother me. However, 2nd gear likes to pop out; shifting to 4th is noisy; clunks alot; and grinds as if I didn't have my clutch pedal all the way in. It was soo nice during the first 2 months or so.... super smooth and easy to shift.

Wow scary to hear that you all have problems with gears popping out. My transmission is smooth in my '06. Only thing that does bother me is when i turn the car off it sounds like its breaking apart....like it shakes or something, but its not a loud noise but a noticeable.
