maybe if you put felt or anti seize between the bolts and the brackets and brackets and body it will eliminate without leaving them snug, so you can tighten them down

I've been having a hell of a time tracking down the metal wire-like clinking sound in the back of my car. I took it to a dealer a few days ago. At first, they could not 'replicate the problem'. So I ended up going to the dealer and driving with a tech in the car. It is much more noticable at very low speeds, so finally they realized I wasn't crazy.

Naturally they didn't fix it though, but they did manage to screw up some of the vinyl in my car (yay!).

At any rate, the way I would describe this sound is if you rested a metal hanger on top of a metal box, then lightly jiggled it against the box, that's the sound you would hear. I had thought I located the source by taking everything out of the trunk and then shaking the back of the car with the hatch open. I can hear it when i do that. It sounds like it is coming from right under and in front of the trunk cross beam.

I wish I had a clue of how to take apart the entire rear of the car so I could find it. Guess I'll jam my girlfriend in the back of the car and drive, since the noise I make when shaking it might be vastly different than when driving.

If anyone has any ideas or knows how to take apart the back end please email me at eric_bender311@hotmail.com. I appreciate it!

(It's a 2006 touring a/t) I know I know....automatic. The deal was just too good to pass up

my noise came back. I readjusted the latch mechanism to pull the trunk just a bit tighter and it got quiet again. BUT now it is back yet again. D'oh! I don't like the last adjustment anyway - I feel the trunk is closing just a little to hard. Any more suggestions??
