Default Transmision Problem

When I shift into first gear sometimes when I am starting to drive from a red light I hear a small popping sound coming from the rear of the car. Does anyone know what that is? Its not all of the time, but it can become anoying. Thanks for all your help

Mine does it all the time... it clunks. Clutch out, in, engage, and clunk! Out and In again... the faster you try to engage almost any gear it gets harder.

No solution... it's one of the noisiest trannnies ever and I had mine replaced in Jan/Feb.

My dealership is tough. Even with the grinding they said my tranny was fine. On the 3rd time I was so pissed I took the tech for a drive and grinded 3rd and 5th every time. I didn't even have to push the car or anything... I simply slide the shifter in and out and it would grind.

It's the transmission. There's not much you can do until it really starts messing up. You can try taking it to your dealership and see if they'll offer a solution. Mine is tough... they wouldn't even replace my cubby holder when the lid kept opening by itself. Now that it's broke, 1) Warranty Ended and 2) It would've been void because of an aftermarket stereo installation. [sigh]
