Default Windor motor or mechanism?

My passenger side window stopped working. For a little while, it would kind of try to go back up, only to be immediately pulled back down the moment i released the button. Now it doesn't move at all. When i push the button on either door, i hear a fairly loud click and that's about it. Is it the motor or the mechanism? What do i do?

It's the motor. Same thing happened to be on my 03 about 5 months ago. I bought a new motor and replaced it myself. It's not difficult, but you do have to either remove the window glass, or support it up with a glass suction holder because the rails must come out with the motor during the replacement. It only takes about 1.5 -2 hrs. to do.

Are you sure? Cuz i had a mechanic look at it (without opening the panel) and he said its the mechanism "for sure." He's a VW mechanic though.

its the motor.. if you slam the door.. it will start working again.. i told the dealer to replace mine while my tranny was being done.. they said they checked it and it was ok.

I gave the service advisor a nice demostration of what i go through when it stops working... she ordered one and its being replaced under warranty

https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance-and-repair/142013-window-motor-repair-replace-motor-brushes.html

Try this guys (I think the instructions are on the 1st or second page)

My passenger window stopped working last Saturday (made a click noise whenever I tried using the switch) and I was was on the verge of replacing the motor until I read this thread. Tried it the next day and the window works better than my driver side now... Guess I'll have to clean the drivers side too.

I think someone posted pictures of it there but I can't remember for sure if it was that thread or another but I'll tell you what I remember.

Pop the silver piece off of the door handle off first and they'll be two screws there. After that you should be able to take the door handle off which allows you to take the window switch panel off. There is another screw behind the door handle also. Pull the door handle and you'll reveal a black piece that pops off and then you should be able to see the last screw. From then you should be able to pop the door panel off. Let me know if you need any more help

Def. the motor. I have an 03 and just had the motor replaced after it was doing the same thing. It would click but with no response. After slamming the door once it went all the way up
