Default New tranny

Well I got a call from my salesman today asking if I was experiencing grinding on 3rd gear. I told him no seeing that my car only has 1700 miles. Since I know him personally, he told me to bring it in and tell the service dept I'm having grinding problems in 3rd so that they could replace the tranny with a new one. He told me that they did it to his car and it shifts a lot smoother. Has anyone here gotten theirs replaced or even gotten a call to bring it in?

Usually you have to go in kicking and screaming before Nissan volunteers to replace your transmission. And in some cases that doesn't work either.

Consider yourself lucky that you have a friend on the inside lookin out for you. But your not out of the woods yet. Corporate Nissan will still want to check it out before they authorize the swap.

I've ground it a little twice trying to get into 3rd, both times under fairly heavy acceleration (wasn't flooring it though). I only have about 1,500 miles on my Z though.

At first I thought it was me not pressing the clutch in enough, but then I realized I had it to the floor. Guess I'll have to keep on eye out for that, seeing as how others here have been having the same problem.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what exactly does 3rd gear grind sound like? A thud, a scraping, or is it just hard getting it in the gate?
Thanks
