Default What type of coolant?

I'm draining and filling my coolant tomorrow, and it seems like the Z takes regular ole' 50/50 green antifreeze. Is this true? Should i use the one for all types of cars that Prestone makes?? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Not many hints, the owners manual and Factory maintenance manual both say to use Nissan long life Coolant. They offer no alternatives nor do they give a matching SAE spec., they do however advise other coolants may damage the engine.

Some manufacturers require you to use their brands, but i don't think that is the case with nissans. Not sure. I know with cadillacs they will void a big part of your warranty if they find out you use a different coolant. It makes them more money (like keeping dope fiends hooked on crack), but it also ensures compatability(i suppose), and ensures they aren't fixing someone elses mistake. While the car is under warrenty, I do what the manufacturer says, and if it breaks, they fix it. Pretty simple.

Very disappointed that the owners manual states “or equivalent.” Terribly vague.

you should be using a 50/50 mix of green ethylene glycol based coolant and distilled water. do not using any cheap generic stuff that contain other additives such as silicate.
