Default Injen CAI wore a hole in the A/C pipe

I've had my 2003 350Z now for 3 and a half years, which I had an Injen CAI installed on it shortly after I bought the car. A couple months ago, I noticed that my A/C was no longer working, so I finally took it into Nissan to look at. They informed me that my intake had worn a hole in the A/C pope, causing the freon leak. They said that the intake had inadequate clearance to the high side pipe at the left shock tower. The guy tryed telling me it was intalled incorrectly and that I should talk to the place in which I had it installed. But I went to that place and they told me it was installed correctly, that there is only one way it can go...and it looks correct to me. Nissan says this will cost $895 to repair.

So I wanted to find out if this situation has happened to anyone else and what should I do or is there anything I can do? I thought about calling Ingen, but they probably won't help me either.

Sorry dude, but it probably *was* a problem with the install.

And considering your mod caused the problem, there is no way it will be covered under warranty.

Good practice after installing mods is to check on them from time to time, to make sure everything is okay.

Yup had the same thing happen to me. But it only cost me 360 for everything and they re-installed my popcharger and placed a rubber buffer on it so it wouldn't do the same thing again

You are not the first member with a long intake that rubbed a hole in the air conditioning line. As you mentioned, replacing the line is labor intensive and expensive. Not much that you can do about it: the tube leading to the air filter and air conditioning lines are a tight fit. I urge all long intake owners to check for clearance.
