Brake fluid is low. It's not just an E-brake light. It's also to let you know the fluid is low. It comes on and off as the fluid sloshes around in the reservoir.

Fluid is low. Check your pads first.

Fluid doesn't just evaporates. Check the pads. Don't add fluid before changing them. You don't want to have a fluid spill in the engine bay when it overflows as fluid is pushed back in the reservoir.

Sure you can. Just don't mix different types of fluid. Flush the old fluid with the new.

You can use Dot 4, Dot 5.1 or any race fluid. You won't feel any difference unless you track your car though.

It's perfectly safe to mix fluids as long as they're all petroleum based. DOT 3,4, and 5.1 are all compatible and mixable. DOT 5 is silicone based and should NOT be mixed with any other kind of brake fluid.

about how many miles did you guys run on your stock pads? im at 18k. I dont think its my brake pads because the emergency break light only seems to come one when i accelerate real hard. I think i may be low on brake fluid.

i replaced my front pads at 16K. i could have waited another two to three thousand miles before replacement, but i didn't want to cuz of a slight brake squeak. i replaced with oem pads and they've been very quiet. i guess your pads are due for replacement at 18k.

Do you have any leak in your brake system?

That would be the only reason for a low fluid level, other than the worn pads we all agree on.

RBF600 should be flushed every 6 months or so.

Unless you track your car. Then you we bleed often enough that you'll basically do a "permanent flush".

Dot3 is "less" than your RBF600 in terms of performance.
