Default outside temp gauge prob

Ok heres a good one for you, I have a 2004 350Z convertable which was originally a USA car that was imported into Canada. The importer (possibly a dealer) changed the gauges into metric, kms from standard, miles etc. Now the outside temp gauge displays in Celcius, not Farenheit (which seems accurate) but underneath the temp display it says ICY no matter how hot it is outside. 25* celcius is not exactly very cold outside. Right now its snowing like a sonofa***** and I know its icey outside but i never plan on driving the car in the snow. My dealer is scratching his head trying to troubleshoot the icy prob (I think hes now avoiding me) and I really don't want the mech to figure out how to rewire a 350Z using my car to experiment on

anybody got any ideas to help a guy in the Great white north
