i have an 03 Touring and everytime i fill up my tank it doesnt go to FULL!.....it will stay with 3/4 then with some long driving it will move back to full....but then drop back to 3/4 when u hit back city street....can someone tell me if its the shutter valve or the computer?

 

I have same problem... I've narrowed it down to 2 possibilities.
1. Shutter valve
2. Fuel level sensor

But if anyone else can shed light on this, it would be much appreciated...

 

I don't undertand completely. If the car is empty are you able to fill it full of gas but the gauge only reads 3/4?

Or are you only able to fill it up 3/4 and the gauge is giving you a misreading?

If it's the 1st scenerio then it sounds like the fuel sending unit (that little sensor in the tank) might be broken.

i would go from Empty to full...but it will only read 3/4.....and my trip meter would read like 170dte..or long highway driving it will show 260dte when i fill up it weird....and it will still be in 3/4 most of the time it hardly ever reaches full even when i pump it til it spills

 

It does sound like the fuel level sensor. Try searching around, I believe somebody else had the same problem.

 

ahhhh what should i do? take it to Nissan?
