highway speed rear end vibration
I was wondering whether or not anyone else has had this problem
occasionally when I am cruisin at highway speed, the rear end of the car will start to vibrate. it will start out as low hum, and barely noticable, it will get worse until the point it's like a wump, wump wump kinda sound and it will vibrate the whole car pretty bad. the weird thing though is that it goes away whenever I stop or slow down to a near total stop. does anyone know what this is? does it sound like it might be the diff for some reason or something.
does it sound like something that might be covered under the power train warranty.

i think something like this happened to me before. i was going about 75 and heard a humming noise, and as it faded away the whole car jolted. it happened 2-3 times but my foot was steady on the throttle.
One thing i remember was that my car was low on oil (oil consumption problem) during that time . After I added about 2 quarts, the sound never came back. Anyone else have this problem before?

thanks guys I'll do try that
I just can't figure out why it only does it some times and then it just goes away.
I mean I can be goin at 60 and it will do it. as soon as I stop it will go away and then I can go right back up to 60 and no problem for days.
I'll try what you guys said and see if it helps. thanks

It doesnt sound like a tire balance issue if this is the case. if the tires were unbalanced, then the vibrating wouldnt just go away for a couple days, right?

if its a minor balancing issue you wont feel effect untill higher speeds,,,thats why when you stop it goes away...get your fing tires balanced and you will be fine, its not your lugs if they were that loose you would have lost a wheel by now.....

if the tires weren't balanced properly than it should theoretically be repeatable and it would come back every single time that I hit a certain speed. however it doesn't come back every single time I hit a certain speed. some times it will some times it won't.
once it starts it will also continue to occure until I come to a near complete stop; including speeds much lower (ie: 25-30 MPH) than when it originally started.
