Default Unknown Problem with my Z

Alright folks, here's the deal. I have a 2004 350z Enth. with a little over 32,000 mi., automatic. Im not sure how to explain this, but Ill try,

Im not sure, but something just doesn't feel right. There is no unsual noices or anything but...

Seems my Z can't get over 100 MPH. It manual shift mode, once I get to 4th gear, it just stops accelerating quickly. Its more of a slow climb on my rpms. I mean reallly slow. Like I gofrom 110 to 113 in 15 seconds. Just doesn't seem to kick in.

In auto mode, its the same story. Doesn't feel like its changing into 5th gear. Just stops accelerating at around 90 MPH.

Does that make sense???

Just feels like my engine stops acelerating at around 90-100 MPH.

The only mod I really have is a JWT pop charger, which I re-oiled not too long ago.

I have the stock wheels, but bought new Nitto Gen's when I had to replace my stockers.

its hard to tell, we dont have ur car here.
its easy for you to check this out by dealer, and it will be free as long as its under warranty, but not sure with pop charge on your car, but at least, they will find out the problem for you for free.

Every car and every engine is different. The best advice is to take it to the dealer. I've never heard of this problem before.

Do you have just rear Nittos or all-around Nitto tires? If just the rear, it could be causing your car to think the rear tires are slipping, because Nitto tires I believe have smaller diameter when compared to stock with the same size, thus, activating traction control and slowing your car down. Do you see the "slip" light at any time during the run?

Other than that, maybe too much oil on the air sensor from the pop charger?

Turn of the TCS and see if it does the same thing. Maybe the tranny is going out.

my old camry used to take a busload of time to accelerate from 95 to 110... after 110 it took about 10 minutes to go from 110 to 115... never tried going over 115 cuz it took too long... thank God for the Z.

I have Nittos all they way around, no slip light. Ill try taking TCS off see if that does anything,

It might be your JWT popcharger. I read some Z driver when they go from 6th gear to neutral at a least 100mph, the engine will stall with popchargers. If it was me, I take the JWT out and run the car again.

the question is.......before you re-oiled the pop charger, did it not able to accelerate normally?
i suspect you used too much oil and the oil contaminated the MAF sensor.
i'd try to clean the MAF first and see what happens.

The first day i put on my pop-charger i went to the interstate on ramp and ran it up through the gears merging onto the freeway. The engine cut out on me twice nearing redline (not the rev limiter kicking in). It did it that day and has never done it since. I think it was the computer learning the pop-charger. Its been fine ever since.

That would cause drivability issues at all speeds, and possibly poor idle... This sounds like a different issue

Well I hit the freeway today with TCS off and noticed a difference. I was able to quickly get up into the 3 digit speeds.

I only tried it in manual shift mode.

I noticed my car running a little funny before I oiled my pop charger. I found a flat spot on the tire and figured that was it. I was close to needing new tires, so I just went out and got the Nittos.

Ill check tomorrow the MAF sensor and see how it is. I actually thought I didnt use enough oil on the charger...but who knows.

Thanks for your input guys.. I appreciate it.

I would use crc mass air sensor cleaner. take of the mass air sensor and spray it pretty good, 10-15 seconds, make sure to get in the hole/open area, and reinstall. It worked good for me. And I only did it for a 55,000 mi tune up. while doing this u should probably switch out the popcharger to stock sense you'll already have it apart. P.S. you can get the clearner at any pepboys, maybe autozone.
