Default Why is this car a magnet for pebbles and such?

I know, another chip thread, well, not really. I am just curious why this car is such a target, is it because it's really aerodynamic, or low? My 2k Eclipse GT never had these problems. It's not a matter of it would get hit, but not chip, but I never heard a dozen taps of pebbles a day like I do in the Z. I have been keeping real far away from trucks and 18 wheelers, but today while several hundred feet back from an 18 wheeler I got nailed with a pebble, "Crack!" It put a small divot in my windshield, which I will get repaired so it doesn't spread. It's just crazy how I feel like I'm constantly getting hit by stuff, and not just on the front end. I heard what sounded like a pebble hitting the roof right before that one hit the windshield...the roof?!? All this gravel and sand from our ice storm sucks! The thing is it's gonna be on the roads for months and months because they don't seem to have any intention of cleaning it up.

Then as if that wasn't bad enough, the other day while on a 2 lane road with a car next to me, I see something in my lane. I was going to try and avoid splitting it, but that car was next to me and there was no shoulder. I just get it dead center hoping it would not do anything. It only looked about 4 or 5 inches thick. My friend and I both thought it was a cardboard packaging for a 6 pack of beer, but it turns out it was a metal rectangular can. Probably a gas can or paint thinner, you know, the old style. It got stuck under my car for several hundred feet then got left behind me. I pulled into a parking lot and luckily it didn't hit the front bumper or air dam, but must have gotten stuck on the exhaust or something *sigh*.

Seems like this car is a glutton for punishment, and I've been so careful too.

Default Damage magnet

Water based paint.

Low to the ground.

Many of us run this car in traffic, debris in air, etc.

Many vertical surfaces.

Water based paint.

Damn! The same thing happened to me. I'm so careful and was very upset to find that I already have two small chips in the hood and also a "ding" in my windshield! It sucks! I am so careful with the car and it's getting messed up anyway!
