Yep. TSB's are not acknowledging defects, but essentially that is why they are issued - something happens enough, often enough, TSB is supposed to save dealers time by providing a roadmap how to quickly resolve the problem...exactly what is needed, etc.

...At least in Oz - sounds like as much as I may complain about prices, I have good dealers locally as they never give me so much as an argument over a TSB. I guess you'd have to read the fine print for Powertrain vs. Bumper-to-Bumper - technically Powertrain may exclude things like hubs, etc. Axles? That would be bizzarre.

Also, if they are giving you a hard time, ask to see the old parts - don't let them re-use the bolts that the TSB says "replace". Otherwise they may just lube it and slap it back together with the old hardware (side flange nuts, bolts, and hardware). They have to file a parts claim so you may not be able to ask to have the parts, but if they're giving you a hard time, who cares if you inconvenience them by asking to see them?

This is the V35 TSB but I doubt the parts are any different, my Z did exactly the same thing and had the same treatment...

I still don't understand why it isn't a recall...

recall is bad publicity.

BTW, so it sounds like a "click"? I hear a sound but it's a lot softer and definately not a click.

Because its not safety related. Just a minor annoyance.

Correct. A Service Bulletin is simply a supplement to the maintenance manual instructing mechanics how to fix something.

Ok, i did a drive test this morning, and my question to you guys with the clicking, you have 6MT or 5AT? When i was driving this morning in auto mode i did not hear the clicking, i only here the clicking when it is in manual mode only on my 5AT.

I just got a call from the dealer saying that the tech didn't hear the clicking but found an "aluminum cone that looks like an antenna nut" sitting in the spring pocket on the right side that is "pretty beat up."

From the TSB:

2004 Nissan 350z
Bulletin #: 04065A
Sequence #: 10007899
Date: 11/09/2005
Component Name: 106000 power train:axle assembly
Make: Nissan
Model: 350z
Year: 2004
Summary: Clicking noise from rear axles. *mr *sc

From the downloadable warranty on Nissan's website:

DRIVETRAIN
Drive shafts, final drive housing and all internal parts,
propeller shafts, universal joints, bearings, seals and gas-
kets.

I think that pretty much sums it up right there that this is under the 5yr/60k Drivetrain warranty.

Giving the benefit of the doubt , I'm going to see if the clicking dissapeared (I doubt it). If it's still there, it's going to a different dealer.

Well, I got the car back and the clicking is worse after them doing the fuel hose recall. I'm so pissed about this. I had a very detailed conversation with the advisor and the service manager on the phone. After stating what the TSB and the warranty say, they claim this nut that needs to be torqued is not an "internal" part and that this is a maintenance issue , therefore not covered by the warranty. If this is a maintenance issue, why is there nothing about it in the owner's manual under scheduled maintenance?

What exactly is being greased in this fix? Did they not take all of this **** apart to do my fricken fuel hose? I think that's why it's louder now. They knew I'd be back because it's worse so they can charge me for it. It's ****ing ridiculous.

Oh and the "aluminum cone that looks like an antenna nut", I have no idea what it is or if they even found it in my car. It's a little beat up, but is obviously not the cause of the sound. I haven't liked these guys since I laid eyes on them.
