Default sqweeling comming from car...prolly breaks just one question.

There is a loud sound that is comming from the car...now i think it is the breaks but it is really fukcing loud...now the only thing that has me worried is that it will squeel a little bit when im just driving...does this sound like a break issue or perhaps somthing else...im changing the pads this weekend but its embarrasing to have a good looking z w/ sqeeky breaks

I thought brakes will only squeal when you apply then. May want to check you belts while you're at it.

for some reason i've had problems in the past with oem pads squeaking but the pads had ~ 5 mm depth; get them molycoated if you can't do it yourself and see if it resolves the problem (that is if your brakes haven't hit the squealers!)

if pads are no more and you have metal to metal contact you will hear grinding/squeaking while applying throttle at low speeds >15 mph

if you go to a dealer and they say ur pads are worn make them take off the pads and show you! there is a little metal tab known as the "squealer" this tab is an indicator that tells people their brakes are worn before it's too late! if pads are 3-3.5 mm thick (squealer usually appears at ~ 2mm ) have them change the pads since it is nearing the end!

Or another answer in this vain is, especially given the OP's comments, the disks/rotors may need skimming. If they are squealling whilst driving, especially if very loud and very high pitched, I'd say more likely to need skimming.

It's the optional S.W.I.N.E. rear suspension that came with selected 350Zs. I didn't get it therefore my car doesn't squeal

generally rotors with variable thickness/ warped edges will also cause a vibration in the steering wheel while applying the brakes so if it does this also then yes rotors need to be resurfaced but warped rotors are generally a direct effect of worn pads!

OMG! If they are that far gone I suspect the rotors will need to be turned or replaced as well. I've never had brakes wear down that far myself, just to the squeakers which I quickly replaced.

Rotors should be machined every time the pads are replaced. Once they reach the minimum thickness, replace them.

Its an audible wear indicator, they're designed that way. When you start hearing that without even touching the brakes, they are basically shot.

I'm almost at that point...they are so squeaky when I use them. It really sucks. Going to change them soon.
