Default thoughts on why G35c does NOT have bounce/feathering problems

seems the G doesn't have the problems.

it has been said that the G and the Z have the exact SAME suspension, I say-NO WAY!!!

my father just brought home a G35c 5AT with 18" wheel package (for those that don't know, my dad is able to do this type of thing because of what he does for a living). I drove it and immediately noticed there was NO bounce. I also noticed that the car swayed MUCH more and didn't feel as stable around corners (contrary to what some of the magazine #s show). It is a great car, don't get me wrong, but the Z handles better and feels like a true sports car.

That being said, perhaps the difference in suspension is parts is what makes the Z have the Bounce and feathering problems?? maybe it has to do something with having a shorter wheelbase than the G? but something is going on with the Z that is making the BOUNCE very obvious (probably the samething that is causing the feathering)?

I immediately hoped in my Z to confirm my thoughts and compare, sure enough, there is a big difference

anyone else driven a G35c and what are your thoughts in relation to Bounce/feathering issues????

It can't be the shorter wheel base otherwise the Eibachs and NISMO susp. wouldn't fix the problem.

I have to imagine that the G35 comes with softer springs for a more "Infinity"/Luxury ride, which would also explain the further sway on turns.

One way to tell might be the part numbers for the springs.

I'm pretty sure I did see where although the parts bolt up on both cars, they have different spring/shock rates. Only makes sense due to the weight differences.

I'm sure it is also intended to be slightly less agressive, too. Wheel base may help some, but that isn't the sole answer, because other sports cars with similar wheel bases don't suffer from this (Vettes, for instance).

I'm inclined to agree. I believe this is a spring-rate or dampening problem or a combo of the two. The wheelbase shouldn't be an issue, as its not very short, actually. The Impreza has a shorter wheelbase, as do other cars, and it doesn't have problems. My Mitsu 3000GT VR-4 had a comparable wheelbase and had no feathering or porpoising problems either...

The G35 weighs more and has a longer wheelbase, that alone is enough to change the resonant frequency and affect the bounce. However, I'm sure it has different spring rates and probably different shocks and "sway" bars. When they say it has the same suspension I think they are talking about the mounting points, A arms and links, etc.

I think the tire feathering is a totally seperate issue and may well start showing up on the G35 as well. However, the G35 does have different (better) tires with a higher tread wear rating so it may not suffer as much. I don't understand why they put the lower performance tire on the Z!
