I have used flushs for yrs on abused motors, but mainly used a name brand so I could write it down on the bill---In my case "SuperFlush" or some such thing---Fact is---that its no more than diesel fuel with maybe some naptha in it, and I suppose it would have some affect----I have in terrible cases used fuel oil ( a qt ) and repeated several times to help flush the lifters, etc.

Did it work? Maybe, but the damage had been done. So, did I buy a few more miles out of an old beat up motor ? Maybe.

Point is, if u change ur oil every 5000 miles, the detergents in the oil are "flushing" ur motor.

The motors I used them on were motors that that I prob should have just left well enough alone. ( 100,000 miles with Never an oil change, just a Qt added when they were low ) HEY ---- No **** !!!

Iv seem many Detroit Irons that NEVER had there oil or filters changed since new with 250,000 plus on them----Best thing with them is change the filter and fill up on nondetergent for the rest of their noble lives

Hmm...I've never tried one on a newer car. I have heard it's not really something you want to be using as they can score the metal inside the motor.

I change oil every 1K miles. EVERY time they ask mr if I want the SUPER enginevac/oilflush w/ products I don't know anything about, and I say no. They also want to sell me the special vac drain plug.
I've got 45k on my 04 ZR w/ absoloutey no problems, (lots of N/A engine mods) w/ chevron premiere engine oil. Maybe, as posted above, on an abused engine it could help. Otherwise, I suggest you use reliable oil, change frequently, and see if problems develop. If you want to do an "engingevac" make sure it's someone you trust.

I will use a different language easier to understand for those confused--------

1. DONT use flush in your properly maintained motor.

2. DONT be manipulated into being sold High Profit ( for the seller ) Low/No benifit/return ( for the sellee ) fads that serve no purpose except to give them a laugh after u pay the bill.

There----does that break down the language barrier ?

Of course not, it assumes you follow routine maintenance.

Engine oil flushes/cleaners are for attempting to recover from poor maintenance.

no.

this was not my question. i believe it was "are engine flushes safe to use"? 350z drifter had a good response. anyone else with some positive or negative feedback on using an engine flush would be appreciated.

Thought I made that clear ---NO ----DO NOT USE A FLUSH in a clean well maintained motor----That means a motor with less than 150,000 miles and a motor where the oil is changed even at 20,000 mile intervals.

Flush is no more than a solvent---it thins the oil and would tend to wash lube off critical parts

The thing is ---U want to hear somthing positive about engine flushs and DONT want to hear anything negative ----U WANT to flush ur motor. Go ahead --flush it, Its not going to disinigrate before ur eyes if u do. Get it out of ur system
