I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a weird exhaust leak noise from their car. I hear it mostly coming from the right rear of the car. It's not constant, but intermittent, and sounds like a valve is letting out gases every couple of seconds. Sounds to me like a leak of some sort from the exhaust. Anyone have any thoughts?

 

What's it sound like? I recently noticed a noise when I accelerate
when in higher gears. Makes a "blubbering" sound.

 

If it is a HISSING noise you hear from the middle to the back of the car it could be the fuel pump. The Z has a split saddle fuel tank and there is a pump to move gas from one side to the other to keep it equal.
I too thought I had an exhaust leak and when the dealership put it up the the alignment rack I talk to the tech and he explained it to me .
The service CD shows the split tank also.

 

I had an exhaust leak in the last flange connecting the straight pipe to the exhaust. Of course my dealership and even some members here did not believe me, but when the tech went in to change the gasket, I had a "sizeable" leak.

 

I guess I'll just put the car up on jacks and listen from underneath. Maybe it is a gasket leak. I'll let you guys know.

 

if its a leak dont inhale that stuff to long,,ya know..hehe

All 3 of my nissan's over the last 2.5 years have had exhaust leaks...very odd.
