Default Engine problem?

So, i just got my 350z tonight. Its a 2004 manual with 36,000 miles. I was driving it tonight when all of a sudden it kind of "stopped revving". I would push the pedal in all the way and the rpms would go up VERY slowly, almost not at all. I turned the car off, and back on, and it worked fine. Also, "Serivce engine soon" light came on . Whats wrong = (
edit: Im reading about NVIS and other devices used to cut power on our engine. I have a mobil speedpass + mercedez benz key on the same key ring. Could this have caused the problem? But then why would the engine light still be on?

ok.. try this.. My car threw a CEL yesterday on the way home from work.. it started running like schit in the mid to upper rpm's... i immediately dropped her off at the dealer as its under warranty...

I get a call today and was greeted with laughter... my freakin fuel cap wasn't tight and it caused a vacuum leak... so yeah, go make sure your gas cap is snug.. meanwhile.. I will continue to feel like a dumb ***.

=)

your car went into limp mode, and you should go get that CEL checked ASAP, it's not going to go away.

take it to autozone to check CEL for free. pep boys tried to charge me $20 once

After this happened, i unplugged my batery for 10 minutes, and the CEL went off. I took it to a dealer and the service manager told me it was not limp mode, but most likely my throttle chamber, w/e the fk that is. Anyways, the code the ECU should have recieved ( they need a code to replace any part) was not in the ECU. So, she told me the car should run fine, but if it ever happense again not to reset the battery and bring it straight in.

Thanks for info guys.
