weird engine problem

hey guys, im experiencing some weird engine problems. friday my car shut off on me out of no where, and when i tried to start it back up, it took me a couple attempts but eventually it started and i drove it home.
the next day i was on the fwy and suddenly the car bogged down and the engine light came on. i believe it went into limp mode or something?
after that i did some stuff to it, i changed all the plugs, cleaned the MAF sensor with CRC maf cleaner and cleaned the pop charger.
i just came back from a test drive to and from the gas station where i also poured in a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner. again the car didnt start up the first time. it started up the 2nd time.
car felt weird again, the way it felt when it bogged down on the fwy. when i was pulling into my drive way i notcied that when i rev passed 3-4k the rpm would hover at 2k on the way down then go down to 700rpm. when i reached my parking spot i doubled checked and gave it a couple more revs.and it did the same thing. the engine is still on.
what can the problem be? a bad ignition coil? air leak on my plenum? (kinetix)

yeah i took it into the dealer this saturday, the CEL code i got was a cam position sensor problem. but when the dealer called me back later that day, he said the problem is correlated with my oil consumption and they may have to replace my engine "AGAIN!" if they do go ahead and replace the motor, this will be more 3rd motor. i had the first change early 06. good thing my powertrain warranty is still good. but my bumper-bumper warranty is out.
