Glad to hear that your car was fixed no problem. I understand what you are saying about spending that much money on a new car, and having problems with it. I would be pretty upset about it too, now that I really think about it. good luck with the car in the future.

Thanks Bacalhau16.....I appreciate your sympathy.

I guess its hard to understand exactly what i went through unless it happens to you. I hope that no one else goes through the same experience.

Default Checklight AGAIN!!!

Well i spoke too soon. The checklight came on for a third time now. I just hit 400 miles. At this point i'm not even mad i just want it fixed. The tech pulled up 2 codes this time. The leak seems to have gotten worse. The tech mentioned it might be the cannister of the evap system. I have to return to the dealer on Tues since the Nissan tech line isn't working on Monday.

Oh well, i will keep whoever is interested posted

Default Sorry to hear that...

Chriskabobbers....Sorry to hear that...I'm sure you had more than 400 miles on the odometer though. Have you have the codes checked?

Sorry for your troubles....which dealership did you go to? Performance Nissan and West Covina Nissan are the only ones to go to in CA or in the US for that matter. They are both vendors here on the board. GL with your issue. Remember its just a CEL though, nothing major. Half of the Z community on here drives with their CEL on...due to test pipes that is...haha

Keep us informed though

This is probably the last time i will ever buy a Nissan.

Default Thanks

Zman1910....I purchased my Z at Superior Nissan of Carson(5 minutes away) so that's where i have been taking it for service. The two dealerships you mentioned are about a hour away for me. I know its just the CEL and i shouldn't worry about it. It would be a different story if i new the cause(test pipes).

Kirkster.... I'm sure Nissan will make it right but its a hassle taking back for service 3 times in a month. I never took my Honda(10 years) or Toyota (6+ years) for any problems regarding the CEL. I guess i expect a bit more from the cars i buy especially brand new cars.

That is a pretty big generalization. They are just as good as any other car manufacturer at honoring a warranty. I feel bad for EVO owners when they need warranty work.

Default 3rd time around

Well this time the dealership replaced the gas cap. The tech said the gas cap was defective. I actually took a look at the gas cap the first time i had the checklight come on. I really didn't notice anything obivous like a crack. The tech said they hooked up the evap system to some kind of smoke/pressure equipment to pressurize the system and find out where it was leaking. I don't know if he was just blowing smoke up my A$$ or what. I guess i will find out in time.

I understand probably much better than most. Keep a note of everything that happens, what the Z does etc, is the best advice I can give you at this stage. Good luck and keep us posted.

I dont know about nissans service being crap maybe u just had bad luck. I brought my car in for 3rd gear grinding my car is a 2003 touring with 55000 miles on it. THey gave me a new tranny, Flywheel, Clutch and throw out bearing all under warranty. They also did the fuel hose recall and they even filled me up with a half a tank of gas. And to top it all off they gave me a 2007 nissan murano for a rental with only 500 miles on it and they had my car back to me in a day and a half. THe tranny they installed was the 009 which is the 2007 tranny and it feels like butter. No noise, no grind, no notch. So dont go saying they got crap service cause ur statement is FALSE. Man my boss has a 750li beamer 2006 thing burns 2.5 quarts of oil at 3000 miles and its been to the dealer several times and that car cost pretty much 100k. My freinds 2004 E46 M3 crank shaft bearing siezed the motor had to get pulled and replaced only had 57000 miles on it and he babied it. And i had zero problems with my 2003 350z that i purchased in 04 with 17000 miles on it except this recent 3rd gear grind i mean it had the original tranny so it was onyl a matter of time this 009 feels liek its perfect now hopefulyl

infamous350.....Your right not all Nissan service departments are crap. I think all Nissan dealerships are independently owned and operated so its just a matter of finding the right one.
