Well as the title says...this just happened right now. As im driving home from my girls house at cruising speed i have my windows down, and A/C with the "air coming in from the outside funtion on." 5 minutes into the trip i notice a small gas scent
. Anyways i get a bunch of green lights and im just driving smelling the air coming through the vents around the interior confused where this smell is coming from, i assume a car ahead of me has a problem, but there are none. Finally i hit a red and i pull up to a motorcycle to my left and the PUFF i get a big wiff of gas....so im like aha must be the bike. Green and as i progress the smell is still there so now im like is it my car??? Look at my gauges and all fine, finally decide to pull over and i get off and smell my car. Conclusion was that the front right (passenger side) smells like gasoline, especially when smelling around the tire. Also at that moment my right rear also smelled like gas. Once i got home the right rear smell was gone and now only the front smells...popped the hood and the smell is towards the back infront of where the battery is located but is faint. The main smell is coming from around my tire...could it be i hit some gasoline on the road and it stenched up my tire or is this something more serious????? Please help
yea i think ur tripping could be some gas u ran over bro explaing why the smell is on the tires and undercarriage . Maybey splashed. If ur concerned about the car put it on a lift. And check it out . I thnk you bugging though.
hold on just a second.
if it is around the front right side in front of the battery then we are talking about the exact same spot where the main fuel line for the engine comes in. it comes through that area. i had a situation about two weeks ago where the line had become loose and was leaking gas. i had smelled it for a few days before finally my car wouldnt start. popped the hood and i realized that the fuel line had shot off and was not delivering gas to the engine. of course that area would smell like gas if you had a leak, since the gasoline would drip down and below. when i get home i will take some pics for you so you can see exactly the part im talking about.
in the mean time. i suggest starting your car and visually inspecting that area. are there any drips of signs of previous drips? gasoline usually leaves a white residue when it evaporates. (if your lucky)
