Default Do I win the award for most window motor swaps???

My third driver window motor just crapped out today. Fortunatly the first time I replaced it, I purchased one from Autozone. It came with their lifetime warranty. It lasted about 9 months. The next one lasted less than three months. At this rate, Autozone is gonna go bankrupt giving me free motors.

i had both replaced under warranty, the driver side replaced just three months before the bumper to bumper ran out back in early 06 and they are still working fine..... keeping my fingers crossed of course.

This is true. Takes me about 30 minutes start to finish.

Is this a hint that maybe you shouldn't get motors from Auto Zone?

Hardly. I don't think that the motor is at fault. I think that there is some sort of design flaw in the electrical system, not the motor but then again, I may be totally wrong. Still, unlike your local Nissan stealership, the motors you buy from Autozone come with a lifetime warranty so you only have to buy it once.

About $130 with a core exchange or $170 without a core exchange. Autozone will refund the difference if you buy a new motor first then bring in your old motor after you do the install.

Sounds like your definately getting your money's worth out of the lifetime warranty.

Just installed the new motor. I swear you'd think it'd get easier over time but this install took me about 20 minutes longer than the last one. On top of that, I never could get two of the inner panel mounting bolts to line up in their respective holes. Out of frustation I left them out. At least the window works.....for now.

My guess is that the motor failure has to do with the electrical design of the motor. The constant movement of the window every time you open and close the door is probably not good for the motor. I don't think it was designed for this small repetative motion.

I haven't personnally done the research, but it would be interesting to see if BMW's and such have these issues, because they do the 10mm drop and rollup with opening/closing the door as well. Perhaps it is that the motor isnt designed for such a motion to happen so repetitive.

I got a remanufactured OEM motor. The cost is $170ish without a core exchange or $130ish with a core exchange.
