Default Question about 3rd gear grind.

I have searched the forum about the grinding sometimes between gears. I understand that many Z's have problems with their tranny.

My grind into 3rd gear doesn't happen when i push the clutch all the way down, although it does happen when I press the clutch like any other gear. Does this sound like a tranny problem or a cluch problem. It only happens in third gear. I brought my car to the dealer today and they stated they could not find anything wrong with the tranny but they tightened the clutch. They then took my car out and could not get it to grind, eventhough they did not have me drive my car before they started to work on it.

I'm a little worried as I am nearing the end of my warranty. Do most Z's that have this problem grind no matter how far the clutch is pushed?

Thanks..

It might be the begining of the tranny going bad. If it keeps doing that on 3rd gear take it back. And when they test drive it you drive and have the tech sit in the passenger seat.

Shifting habits have to be changed to compensate for wear and tear. Dont panic til you ease up on notion that your car is going to shift the same at 100 miles as it did at 55,000.
I stand fast in my opinion that 85 % of warrenty replacements were due to Panic and MT inexperience.
My '03 (Yes the notorious "bad" Trans year) got a 6-5 grind at 35,000. Within a week of modding my shift habits, it stopped, and at 65,000 plus is fine

Well, I went back to the dealer because they said they could not duplicate the problem. I drove with the tech and showed him the grind, he then drove and he had the same problem. Basically, he is going to order a new tranny for me. I haven't asked him yet what tranny will be ordered, but I have read over the board about version 8 vs version 9. I'm not sure of the difference between the two or which one the tech plans to order. I plan to call him tomorrow so any help with what to tell him would be great....thanks..
