Default 03 350z clutch problem

Hey all,
I have a 03 350z with about 55k on it. I recently have had a problem where the clutch is become stiffer or hard to push down. I took it into nissan and the guy said that the only way to know for sure is to tear out the clutch but he suspects the pressure plate is collapsing and im gonig to need a new clutch, plate and throwout bearing.
i am just making sure this make sense and wondering if it could be something else. Also the dealership said it would be about 1100 to fix, and im sure i can get it down cheaper elsewhere.

any thoughts?? thanks for your help

He is probably right. If it is to the point where it is non driveable, i would go with a new clutch. Since you are out of warranty like myself (or damn near done with it) i would go with a different clutch/flywheel set up and dont have nissan install. They will bend you over.

If it is just you being picky because it dosen't feel like it did when you bought, i would keep using it because it probably has plenty of mileage still in it. Also take into consideration if you dont buy the expensive *** OEM clutch/flywheel combo then your clutch pedal is going to be stiffer anyways. Good luck with things.

I don't know what part of socal you're in but let me know if there is something we can do to help. We have a large variety of a/m clutches and flywheels to offer, or the factory one if you want. It does sound like your clutch is done for.

55,000 your about do---But what happens also is components just loose their lube....The slider tube for your throw-out, the pivot for your fork, the splines your disk is locked to.

It just gets Gunked up from heat, filth, and lube solidification. Either way ---time to replace everything.

Something that is often overlooked in a primo clutch job is CLEANING !!!!! Polishing sliders and splines, Deburring and Proper lubing
