Default Transmission Problem 07 350

ok well i have a 07 350z. i have a huge problem....whenever on startup i drive out and press the clutch to shift from first to second...but when i go and depress the clutch the trans like has so much pressure that it just like slows the car down and the trans then proceeds to make the worst rattling noises ive ever heard......wtf...im gonna take this into the dealer tom. and see what it is....but does anyone have this problem? or is this normal because the trans has to warm up and has so much pressure... i mean its like the pressure is so great that when depressing the clutch it just bogs down and makes the worst rattling noise ever.....someone help

If the dealer you go to blows you off or are douche bags, then let me know and I'll get in contact with "my" tech from Glendale Nissan

hmm odd...

i have an 07 too...and i notice then i find it pretty damn hard to shift into second...

and i press the clutch in pretty quick...and all the way...and i kno i dont let the clutch go before i put into gear...

so your problem and my problem may be related some how...

i find that my shifting from first and second is slowest because of the problem...i always wanna make sure im in gear...

i have the same problem going into second...its harder going into second from first gear than it is going into any other gear, seems like i have to engage the clutch slower when im in second idk if its normal but i got used to it though...

07 here. Mine does it also, you have to depress the clutch just a tad bit slower because it hasn't warmed up yet and it wont make that sound. It became second nature for me to baby the clutch if I just started her up, especially from 1st to 2nd, give her time and practice and you'll know what I mean. I doubt you'll be able to replicate it with the dealer, because by the time you get there... your car is running smooth and warm.

I got that problem too....second harder to get into than the other gears. The other gears are super smooth. Let me know what the dealers say cus if its the car I wanna take mine in too.

1-2 is normal on this car guys. It has been this way since 2003 when this car came out and on the G35.

My 04 G35 an 05 did the same problem. Hard to get into 2nd. Amsoil tranny fluid helped though. Haven't done it to my NISMO Z just yet.

My '07 will be a little touchy before it warms up, but after that it's all good.

No troubles with my 07, and I drive it rigorously, but not hard. Also, I have yet to experience the "clutch sticking to the floor" problem.

What you are describing is normal with the 6mt- although I don't know how hard your car is "bucking" when you're depressing the clutch in 1st, the car *Will* shudder and buck as if the tranny is under a lot of pressure when going into second depending on the rpm and how you disengage the clutch.

Good luck.

so what your saying is depress the clutch slowly? let it warm up....
see now i pump the clutch like 3 times before i put it in gear just to warm her up a little....i guess it works....so what your saying is that theres nothing wrong....common?

i just never experienced another MT car because this is my first and didnt know exactly if i was messing it up...i am really paranoid about my car...its love

I have a 2003 6mt and i find that frequently, when pulling off in 1st, i get a crazy rattle and the car drags and won't go anywhere, sometimes it sounds horrendous.

apparently, it isn't a major issue, just like everyone else said... baby it until you've driven a bit of distance.

All of my other cars i've driven have been MT, and it can happen in any car, but the z is much more noisy. previous owner vouched it's been doing it since purchase which was nov 2002. so it in no way isn't an immediate horror.

On the way home yesterday i actually played with 1st and 2nd a little thinking about this post. If my foot is off the throttle and the car is "drifting" with 1st engaged, when I push in the clutch, the car will shudder. Describing it in a non-technical way, there engine puts pressure on the tranny. When you disengage the clutch with your foot off the pedal, that pressure is released and you get the shudder. I don't know if you've noticed, but the engine has so much stopping power in first that you can actually go downhill when it's cold and lose speed. That's just the way the car is.

What I suggest is instead of letting your foot off the gas when you shift to second, keep the pedal down a little... just enough to keep the rpm at the same level when the clutch is disengaged. This will eliminate the shudder and will make the shifts to second a lot smoother.

-Put in 1st, apply gas
-Pull back on the gas but don't cut it entirely (the rpm shouldn't shoot up when the clutch is disengaged)
-shift and rev match to second
-engage clutch

good luck!

thanks for the advice and knowledge.... but the main problem is when say i start it up...shift to first....start going...and a stop sign 100 ft away and have to engage the cluth not stall out obviously..but when i put in the clutch(cold engine keep in mind-dont know if that has anythign to do with it) the car basically bucks as if im down shifting from like a very high rpm.....then proceeds to rattle in trans
