i drive an 05 enthusiast with 14k+ miles. sometimes if i coast slowly, and come to a stop I will hear a rear clicking noise, AFTER coming to a halt. This doesnt happen when I am going at higher speeds.

could this be the axel or rear suspension? any help? thanks

 

probably the rear axle click syndrom.mine has started to get it as well.o well time to take the half shafts out and replace the bolts.

 

its common, mines been doing if for over 35K miles and I was just under my car to check a few things out and noticed nothing of concern.

Its just the bolts clanking, with no real problem and its merely an annoyance.
I do believe there is a TSB for it, but all they do is slap some grease on there. They may replace something, I dont really know, but someone told me it just came back again, shortly after they fixed it.

 

Yeah, there is a tsb.Grease the half-shafts and then replace the flange bolts.

 

its not the bolts that cause the noise, only reason Nissan tells to replace those bolts is because they are aluminum and they want no liability if they brake after being removed and over torqued too many times. An actual fix is applying PBC grease(Nissan Anti-Sieze) to the axle splines and any area where it contacts the bearing/hub.

 

once i re-grease the axel is the clicking noise going to come back?

AAHHH so that's what that is. I had taken it to get it repaired, and about 5 months, 7154 miles later...it's back. I've grown to live with it. One of these days I'll jack up the rear end and take care of the problem...when it becomes a problem.

 

The rear axle cannot click after the car is stopped. Nothing inside the axle is moving.

tsb will take care of it...have not had the problem since...just take it to the dealer and they should know what to do

I recently had the same issues... ANNOYING! I still had 24,000 mi on my 05 base, so I took it to a near by dealer and they changed to nutz/bolts etc. problem fixed!

 

Just to 3rd or 4 th what everyone is saying, I took my Z into the dealer and they are fixing it the way the TSB? I guess thats what its called says to. Nissan replaces the bolts first and greases everything up...IF it keeps clicking(which it doesn't) then they actually replace something major, not sure what it was the guy said, but yea its free so just go to nissan and tell them there is a rear axle clicking noise and they will know exactly what your talkin about.

Oh and while your there might as well check for recalls...I guess there was a fuel hose assembly recall on mine? Dunno i let em do it though, it was free
