Possible K&N 57-6013 FIPK Design Flaw
My AC went out this week and I was praying to God that it wasn't the compressor or the compressor clutch. I got one of those recharge kits from advance auto and recharged the system and the compressor kicked on. I was glad at first that it wasn’t the compressor, but then I was wondering why the R134A was so low. After searching I could hear a leak. I located it and found it to be on the low pressure service port line. What had happen was the clamp on my K&N intake that connects the filter to the plastic tube, after six months, rubbed a pinhole in the line. My plan of attack was to get that pinhole welded, but I called K&N to inform them of a possible design flaw just so they would be informed. However, they told me that they would pay for everything to be fixed. That line looks like a pain in the *** to replace: meaing my car would be down for a long time. So I was wondering if I should just do a quick spot weld or let them pay for it to be repaired? Regardless, I am impressed with K&N’s customer service. By the way I have the K&N 57-6013 FIPK, so any of you guys with that should watch out!
