...Pictures for the trained eye...Do I have tire feathering??
Can anyone determine if I have tire feathering by looking at these pics? I recently changed my tires last May. They are toyo proxies on 19" volks. I ran them under pressure for a few weeks unknowingly (a lot of traveling), which caused premature wear to both sides of the tires. Its hard for me to distinguish if there is feathering beyond this. I am having my car aligned tomorrow (for the first time) just to be on the safe side, but any input would be great! Thank you

As you can see, there is wear to both sides of the tire due to running them underpressure... but is there feathering on the inside of the tire?

What does the feathering feel like to the touch?

In the pics attached the white circles show where only a small corner of each thread is undergoing premature wear vs. the rest of the thread.
In the 2nd pic, you can see how the threads are begining to warp. It's evident by the length of each thread. Notice how the lengths alternate. This is also an indication of feathering.
It takes a little trick photography to really show feathering as it is very subtle. It's a lot easier to feel than to see. When you get your alignment done, if you have toe out instead of toe in, then it's probably feathered.
