I too have a filter in the front fender well with my pit intake. I have never had a problem until the other day when I was driving in some heavy heavy rain and it definitely got wet.

So I just bought a used popcharger from a member for 50 bucks and am getting rid of the pit intake. I want a more stock look anyways..
