Default Wet filter??

Hi guys..I purchased a 03 model Z that came with a AEM cold air intake. Every time it rains the filter gets damp and the car runs like garbage!!!! The filter is located in front of the tire....and I know you guys know this, but is it common for this to happen? Is there any way to prevent it?

Get a bypass valve quick to prevent hydro-lock.
mine gets wet alot but as long as it is not sucking in water instead of o2 then it should be fine.

Get a bypass valve, I'm sure AEM makes one, i know nismo does. How do you know it gets damp? I'm guessing you removed your wheel-well covers to check?

Yeah, I removed the tire. Soaking wet. I remember I ran it through a car wash (yes I know) and it did an under carriage wash. I thought it was gonna break my neck it jerked so hard. Then a primer gray Civic comes outa no where with straight pipes and neons trying to race me....I wish I could have that moment back...lol.

I personally wouldn't take a chance on any type of filter that could possible suck in water easily....

Agree. That's not good. You may be able to shorten the AEM. If not - why take the risk?

Using AEM, was it a dare or did you use lose a bet???

Bypass valve is made of foam, guess AEM thought this was extra weight.

I purchased the car and it came with it. this is my first foreign "performance" car...I have raced drag cars for many years and built several motors...so Im not an inexperienced teenager..just here for input. I bought the car used and it came with it unfortunately. No need to act like an arrogant jerk. If you watch the movie Midnight in the garden of good and evil...the camaro fetured in that movie..my neighbor and I stripped the car down to the frame and restored it for some kid at christmas. We painted it and it looked great..they primed it for the movie..so think about who you are talking to before you show your true ignorance. No wonder you work at Tmobile...lol.
