Default Rattling sound and can be felt in my pedals *paypal 5 bucks if fixed*

i recently installed a new amp and head unit. Not sure if it's draining too much power or what but since then, i have this weird rattling sound and feel at idle. It feels like something is popping around. I can feel it in the clutch pedal the most. When i push the window button down and hold it down after the window is already down, i feel the rattling in the pedal and hear it as well. It idles a bit less when holding the window button down. Taking off feels weird. It's so hard to explain.

Does any know anything under where the pedals are that has to do with this? I will honestly paypal someone 5 dollars if they help me fix this. It's so freaking annoying.

I had a similar problem with a rough idle after a I added two amps ( approx 1000 watts combined).

After I added a cap it pretty much went away.

Do your pedals vibrate when the stereo is off?

i tried turning my stereo off but i think the rattling is there but not as much. My volts are stable but are do get slight dimming in my upper navigation and mileage gauge. Just don't knwo what that this rattling is.

yeah, still rattles with the stereo in the off position and the amp turned off. It's so weird. I thought it was my throw out bearing or something but i doubt that's it.

My idle would crap out with my system on, added a cap and the problem is gone. Also is your amp on all the time when the car is started or just when the HU is turned on? I would check and make sure there are no shorts in your wiring. Also try disconnecting the battery and tap your brakes to drain all the juice then reconnect. Should reset and see if it relearns idle. Any other mods besides a system?

There could be a short in the wiring somewhere. The window motor takes quite a bit of power, so I could see why that would cause an increase in the problem. Make sure that your grounds are secure and you wired your rca and speaker wires away from the power correct? Strange that your idle is messed up. Did you happen to tie into a wrong wire somewhere. I had a car that wouldnt start because I hooked up the dimming wire.

right now, i don't even have a remote wire on the amp. The amp "senses" frequencies and turns on it self if i turn up the volume anythign higher than 8. I waiting this weekend to put in thicker remote wire. The one i had was way to small.

other mods are plenum spacer, intake, test pipes..that's it i think. To think of it, i know there is one stripped bolt on the plenum due ot me over tightening one of teh bolts. Sometimes after driving more than 50 miles, if i turn off the car and turn back on, it shuts off. I think because of a leak. But if i just do a quick rev, the car will stay on like normal for the rest of the time.

I'll go outside to try the battery think now. Maybe i need a better battery. I gave away my optima yellow top with my old set up and using the stock nissan battery as we speak. I'm only running the jl 500/1 amp though.

yeah, my rca cables are ran through the middle of the console and the power wire is ran on the passenger side of the car.

any other ideas? You seem to know what you are talking about as well. I know there are a TON of wires behind my console when i installed the pioneer AVIC d3, i taped off wires that i didn't use, and the rest of the RCA cables that weren't used, was capped off with the plastic pieces it came with. Not sure if any wires back there are too close together.

Voltage might be making your car idle lower, i would get a second battery, and/or some grounding wires from your batt, if im right give the 5$ to the salvation army guys who ring the bell for me =)

Check grounds, maybe a battery swap , or add a cap...sometimes it helps if you throw in a breaker inline w/ the main power so you can test things out easier.

do you mean the amp ground? Is there somethign i should look for? or are you talking about all the grounds (ie: headunit)?

I might just be the battery. Not sure. Wtih my yellow top, I know i didn't get dimming with my old 500/1 and also didn't have this problem. But this is also with my new head unit. Not sure if this dvd unit is taking too much voltage.

Yes..amp ground...If the problem originated w/ the new hu...check that one as well. Sometimes a battery upgrade to something like a optima might solve the problem as well.

If the problem does not get solved with any of these suggestions just swing by the next time we have a meet and ill take a look at it. I had the blowes system in mine and know pretty much every wire for that thing, stock system as well since I helped out a buddy install a system in his stock Z. Oh and final question but where did you mount your amp?

After installing my system i had a similar problem. I could really tell when i was at idle with the windows up, when i hit up on both window switches my voltage meter would drop way off. I switched to a red top and it took care of everything. A bad ground is very possible, check that first then move onto the battery and at last resort a cap. Good luck with things.

would the RCA cables overlapping over the power or ground wire near the amp cause anything bad to happen?
